Implant inflammation treatment

When the implants are placed, the aim is a long-lasting and healthy implant. The main reasons for the occurrence of periimplantitis are inappropriate material selection, inadequate planning or implant placement and most importantly, not performing adequate cleaning and maintenance procedures.

As a result of these situations, inflammation and bone loss may occur around the implant. It is possible to treat inflammation in the tissues around the implant.

Solution to peri-implantitis

The treatment varies according to the amount of tissue loss that occurs. In some cases, cleaning the gingiva and bone tissue directly with laser without creating an opening in the gum may be sufficient. In some cases, the gingival tissue can be opened with a small laser intervention and cleaned appropriately, and new bone formation can be achieved. In this treatment, the use of Er:YAG hard tissue laser will be most appropriate.

Removal of inflammatory tissues

The main purpose of this process is to remove the unwanted inflamed tissues that has formed around the implant and, if necessary, to extend the life of the implant by creating new bone to support the implant. The most successful method in the treatment of periimplantitis is Erbium:YAG laser systems. With this type of laser, which is also known as hard tissue laser, it may be possible to clean the inflamed tissues.

Disinfect without damaging the area

More importantly, it is the best-known method to completely clean the implant surface from bacteria (decontamination) without damaging the implant and without posing a long-term risk to the implant. If these conditions are met correctly, periimplantitis can be treated without damaging the bone.
