Technology

We are equipped with the latest technologies to ensure the well-being of our patients.

Radiology and dental imaging

In our clinic, we rely on imaging studies for accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up care in dental treatments. We use both two-dimensional X-rays and three- dimensional tomography based on the specific needs of each patient.

Digital Volume Tomography (DVT) allows us to analyse the bone structures of the jaw in three dimensions, enabling precise and safe treatment approaches. Compared to computed tomography (CT), DVT offers the advantage of lower radiation exposure. These advanced imaging techniques are particularly valuable for ensuring the precise placement of dental implants.

Benefits of digital dental x-ray

Digital dental x-rays offer numerous advantages in detecting dental and oral issues that may not be visible to the naked eye. These include: the detection of small cavity lesions between teeth or beneath existing restorations (fillings), the identification of bone infections, gum disease, abscesses, or cysts, and the visualization of dental development and tumours. Since many of these conditions may not be clear during a visual dental examination alone, x-rays are essential for early detection.

Early detection is essential for the success of dental treatments. Therefore, using precise digital x-rays for examinations and controls can significantly enhance the success rates of treatments.

The 3Shape Digital Intraoral Scanning Device

The 3Shape scanning device revolutionises digital smile design by offering precise planning and visual representation of treatment results in a digital format. This allows us to achieve predictable results that align with our patients' desires and expectations.

By accurately replicating the current state of our patients' mouths, the 3Shape device enables us to plan treatments based on precise dimensions. Unlike the traditional impression materials used in cosmetic and prosthetic procedures, digital scanning eliminates the discomfort of stimulating the gag reflex.

Digital dentistry improves treatment outcomes by using materials that offer superior aesthetic and biological compatibility, while also reducing the likelihood of errors. This advanced technology contributes to a more comfortable treatment experience for patients.

This software simplifies the conversion of two-dimensional planning to three-dimensional modelling. Patients can preview the final result by virtually trying the digital model in their mouth. Once the patient approves this, the treatment is completed in our laboratory.

Additionally, digital measurement systems help reduce treatment time as well as minimize the likelihood of errors, thereby enhancing the overall treatment process.

Laser systems

Our clinic uses laser systems extensively throughout all areas of dentistry to ensure patient comfort and treatment efficacy.

Dentists have used lasers in dental treatments for over two decades, which are different from cold lasers used in other fields. Our ultramodern laser technology significantly enhances patient comfort, providing a more relaxed experience compared to traditional methods. Equipped with the latest laser equipment, our Medicadent clinic is recognized as a leading provider of laser dentistry, and we are one of only three Laser & Health Academy clinics worldwide offering comprehensive training.

Under the guidance of skilled and trained professionals, dental lasers are considered safe and efficient, even in delicate cases, such as treatments for pregnant patients. The use of hard tissue lasers enables us to carry out a wide range of procedures with confidence, ensuring both safety and positive results.

Benefits of laser dentistry

Laser types

Hard Tissue Lasers feature a wavelength which is highly absorbable by hydroxyapatite (the calcium phosphate salt found in bones and teeth) and water, making them ideal for targeting tooth structure with precision. The primary advantage lies in their ability to work with exceptional accuracy.

Soft Tissue Lasers have a wavelength which is highly absorbable by water and haemoglobin (the protein that stores oxygen in red blood cells), making them particularly effective for soft tissue management.

Commonly used soft tissue lasers include neodymium YAG (Nd:YAG) and diode lasers, which play a crucial role in gum treatments by eliminating bacteria and promoting tissue regeneration.

Soft tissue lasers penetrate soft tissues while simultaneously cauterizing blood vessels and nerve endings, often resulting in minimal "post-operative pain" and faster tissue healing.

Both hard tissue and soft tissue lasers are employed with high success rates across a wide range of dental treatments, depending on the specific needs of each patient.

Polysomnography (Sleep Study)

Polysomnography (PSG), also known as a sleep study, is the most accurate method used in the diagnosis of sleep disorders, such as snoring and sleep apnoea. As well as a PSG, a detailed clinical examination must be carried out by a specialized physician. This examination involves gathering detailed personal information and assessing it using internationally recognized history forms, along with cephalometric or Dental Volumetric Radiography (DVT) if needed.

Through PSG, examination, history review, and additional radiographic assessments, airflow patterns through the mouth and nose are carefully monitored, allowing for precise determination of the type and severity of the patient's sleep disorder. Based on these findings, a tailored treatment plan will be developed. We may also collaborate with specialists such as ear, nose, and throat specialists, neurologists, or pulmonologists for further consultation if needed.

Nightlase - Laser therapy for snoring

Snoring typically results from a partial obstruction of the airways, most often linked to anatomical changes occurring in the throat over time.

At Medicadent, our success rates in treating this issue with laser applications have consistently improved each year. This method is widely used, particularly in the United States, where scientific studies have demonstrated a success rate of 72%. At our Medicadent clinic, we've observed numerous successful treatments with appropriate indications.

During laser snoring treatment, we use laser energy to tighten tissues in the soft palate and tongue area, effectively widening the air passages.

This process, which involves the gentle heating of collagen fibres in the tissues, results in significant improvement without the need for surgery or anaesthesia. Typically, patients undergo three sessions lasting 20 minutes each, experiencing only minimal discomfort in the form of a slight warmth during the procedure.

Vacuum device with mercury filter for amalgam removal

Amalgam fillings, also known as silver fillings, contain about 50% mercury. This metal can release small amounts of vapor when you chew, brush, or grind your teeth. However, most of the mercury vapor is released during filling placement and removal.

In some cases, certain health conditions such as tachycardia, Alzheimer's, multiple sclerosis (MS), Parkinson's disease, thyroid issues, and gastrointestinal problems may worsen with the presence of amalgam fillings. Conversely, removing these fillings under appropriate conditions has been reported to alleviate the severity of these conditions.

When removing amalgam fillings, a specialized protocol is followed to ensure the safety of both the patient and the dental team. We use a vacuum device equipped with a mercury filter, designed specifically for amalgam removal, to safely capture harmful particles before they can enter the oral cavity.

  • When they are broken or fractured.
  • When there are leaks at the edges.
  • When there are various amalgam fillings in the mouth, as the cumulative release of mercury vapor may cause a toxic effect.
  • In cases of unexplained illnesses where potential factors need to be eliminated.
  • When detoxification of the body is necessary.
  • Pregnant women and nursing mothers are advised against undergoing the procedure.
  • Both dentists and auxiliary staff should wear special gas masks equipped with mercury filters.
  • Use of a mercury filter device that generates a robust vacuum during the disassembly process.
  • Rubber insulation must be used to prevent the spread of mercury particles.
  • Disassemble the fillings into large blocks under copious amounts of water.
  • If possible, the room should be ventilated during the procedure.
  • The mouth should be rinsed with mercury binding agents before and after the procedure.
  • Install a system to filter mercury from wastewater to prevent environmental harm from disposed amalgam.
  • Disinfect dental tissues with a tissue laser following extraction.
